One of the biggest question marks for the New England Patriots before their Week 1 game against the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday night is the status of running back TreVeyon Henderson.

Henderson has been battling an ankle injury that has kept him sidelined at practice this week and his status for the season-opener has been up in the air.

No, TreVeyon Henderson will not suit up for the Patriots in Week 1 against the Seahawks.

According to the team's official injury report, Henderson has been ruled out because of his ankle injury.

The second-year back did not practice at all in the lead up to the game, so his status should be monitored next week, also.

That said, with their first game being on a Wednesday, Henderson will have extra time to get right and back on the field in Week 2.

Rhamondre Stevenson start or sit advice

The Seahawks are returning much of the same defense they sported last season and that unit had the third-best run defense in the NFL, so this is not an ideal matchup.

However, Stevenson, who was already considered the team's lead back, should see even more work than usual with Henderson out.

Based on volume alone, Stevenson is a flex option in Week 1.

Who will replace TreVeyon Henderson?

Corey Kiner is the only other back on the Patriots' roster, so we expect the team to elevate someone off the practice squad.

That will be either Lan Larison or Hassan Haskins, and we'd expect them to mix in behind Stevenson, along with Kiner.

Considering the fact that there is no indication Henderson is dealing with anything serious, none of those players are worth rostering, nor would we start them in fantasy football.
