Is the ‘Slanted’ Horror Movie Streaming on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video?

Even if you don’t have a pass for South by Southwest, you don’t have to wait long to watch the new indie horror movie Slanted, which opens in U.S. movie theaters this weekend, one week after its SXSW premiere.

Written and directed by Amy Wang, Slanted is a body horror-comedy that stars Shirley Chen as a Chinese-American teenager who undergoes an “ethnic modification” surgery in an attempt to fit in at her majority-white high school. In other words, she makes herself a white chick. But it’s not nearly as fun as the Wayans brothers made it look back in 2004.

Also starring Mckenna Grace, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and Amelie Zilber in supporting roles, Slanted premiered at South by Southwest Film Festival last week, where it was met with mostly positive reviews from critics. Soon, audiences will have a chance to check out the film for themselves. Read on to find out where to watch the Slanted movie, and where and when expect to be able to watch the Slanted movie on streaming.

Where to watch the Slanted movie:

For now, Slanted will only be available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in theaters in the U.S. on Friday, March 13. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. Slanted is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.

Is the Slanted movie streaming on Netflix or Prime Video?

Slanted is not streaming on Netflix or Prime Video right now. While it’s possible Slanted may stream on Netflix someday, it won’t be until after the theatrical run and digital release of the movie. Slanted is not a Netflix original—it’s an independent film being distributed by Bleecker Street in the U.S.

You will be able to purchase Slanted on Prime Video eventually, when the movie becomes available to buy and rent on digital, but you will most likely not be able to stream Slanted on Prime Video free with a Prime subscription any time soon, because it is not a Prime original movie. If you want to watch Slanted movie at home, you’ll have to wait for the film to be available to buy or rent on digital platforms.

Based on other Bleecker Street releases, Slanted will likely be available to buy and rent on digital around early April 2026, or about three weeks after the movie opens in theaters.

When will Slanted be streaming for free?

We don’t know if, or where, the Slanted movie will be streaming on a subscription-based streaming service. The film is being distributed by Bleecker Street, and previously, a deal between Bleecker Street films and Showtime meant that Bleecker Street films went to Paramount+.

However, that deal only went through 2025, and now that it’s 2026, the Bleecker Street films have been going to other streaming services. One recent Bleecker Street film, Fackham Hall, went on to stream on HBO Max about three months after the movie opened in theaters. But another Bleecker Street film, Bone Lake, went to streaming on Netflix about three months after it opened theaters

In other words, the Bleecker Street films often come to streaming, but there is no longer a consistent streaming release strategy, so we’re not sure where Slanted will end up. If you want to watch Slanted right away, you can go catch the movie in theaters this weekend.
