Excitement is in the air for a polarizing 6-foot-7 New York Yankees

No, we aren't talking about Aaron Judge.

New York's No. 6-ranked prospect on MLB Pipeline, outfielder Spencer Jones, was promoted from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday.

The Vanderbilt University product hit 11 home runs and drove in 41 runs in 33 games at Triple-A, recording a .958 OPS in 142 trips to the plate. Jones has serious power, connecting for 35 runs last year between Double-A Somerset and Triple-A.

Now, he faces his first test against Major League pitching. Without counting spring training, of course.

Is Spencer Jones playing tonight?

Jones replaced outfielder Jasson Dominguez on the Yankees' roster yesterday. Dominguez landed on the 10-day IL after suffering a left shoulder strain while crashing into the outfield wall to make a spectacular catch.

In tonight's series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers, Jones will DH and bat sixth in his Major League debut.

MOREDodgers still have a Roki Sasaki problem

New York's regular outfield alignment features Cody Bellinger in left field, Trent Grisham in center, and Aaron Judge in right.

MLB.com's Sarah Langs reports that the Yankees are the first organization in Major League history to roster two position players (Jones and Judge) who are 6-foot-7 or taller.
