Is Joel Embiid playing tonight vs. Cavaliers? Final status for 76ers star

The Philadelphia 76ers will be seeking a second consecutive win when they host the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night.

It will be the second meeting of the season between the two teams, as the Cavaliers bested the Sixers, 132-121, back in early November. Star center Joel Embiid didn’t play for the Sixers in that game, but it will be a different story this time around.

Joel Embiid probable for game vs. Cavaliers

Embiid is listed as “probable” on the official injury report for the game, meaning that the big fella will be out on the court barring any late setbacks.

Embiid is having a very solid January so far, and he’ll look to add to that against the Cavs. Most importantly, he’s been available. Embiid has suited up for six of the Sixers’ seven games in the month so far, and he even played in a stretch of six consecutive contests from Dec. 30 through Jan. 9. That represented the longest such stretch for Embiid in two seasons.

In those six games, Embiid is averaging 26.2 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 33.5 minutes per performance while shooting 55 percent from the floor.

This story will be updated.
