Is Jeremiah Smith playing today? Ohio State Buckeyes WR injury news is slim vs. Rutgers

17 minutes ago 2

Jeremiah Smith is the best wide receiver in the country.

If a wideout in this era was ever going to contend for a Heisman Trophy, it'd be the Ohio State Buckeyes sophomore.

That's what makes any time that Smith isn't on the field about as notable as can be.

And Smith has missed time recently for Ohio State.

The Buckeyes play at 12 noon Saturday against Rutgers. Smith isn't a sure thing to be out there.

And given that it's only a week away from the Michigan game, that's a particularly concerning thing.

Is Jeremiah Smith playing today?

It's not clear if Smith will be playing Saturday for Ohio State against Rutgers.

He and fellow WR Carnell Tate are both question marks.

On Wednesday, OSU head coach Ryan Day said about the pair of them: "They're working hard to get back on the field."

That timing doesn't bode great for their chances of being available Saturday.

The Buckeyes surely would prefer to have them healthy for the Michigan game, the Big Ten championship and the College Football Playoff than for a game against Rutgers, but it all adds up.

The sooner Smith can get back on the field, the better chance of him being healthy for those bigger games. There's just not a lot of information out there on what's going on with these talented pass catchers.
