Fresh off his best game of the 2024 campaign last week against the Washington Commanders, Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren suffered an injury during practice this week that has left his status for the Week 11 game against the Baltimore Ravens up in the air.
Warren practiced in full on Wednesday but popped up on the injury report with a back issue on Thursday, leading to him sitting out. He was able to log a limited session on Friday and drew the questionable tag.
Video out of the open portion of practice on Friday showed Warren as a bystander in drills, and the Steelers promoting running back Jonathan Ward to the 53-man roster figured to be another sign that Warren won't play.
However, news broke late Saturday night that Warren is indeed expected to play. Here's the latest injury update on the Steelers running back.
Jaylen Warren injury update
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Warren is expected to play against the Ravens on Sunday despite the back issue. Pittsburgh is still going to test Warren out pregame, but he is going to suit up, barring any setbacks.
"Steelers RB Jaylen Warren, listed as questionable for Sunday due to a back injury, is expected to play vs. the Ravens barring any pre-game setbacks, per source," Schefter reported.
Warren was quiet over his first four games of the season, and he has also missed two contests due to injury. However, he appears to be turning the corner and finding his rhythm over the last three weeks.
Warren had his best showing of the campaign last week against the Commanders, tallying season-highs in rushing yards (66), receiving yards (29) and touches (16).
Fantasy Football Start 'Em or Sit 'Em: Jaylen Warren
For fantasy football purposes, Warren is an even shakier start than normal. Not only is fellow running back Najee Harris still garnering the majority of touches, now we have to wonder if Warren is less than 100% for this game, which would increase the risk that he leaves the contest due to injury.
Furthermore, the Ravens have been stingy against opposing running backs, with Baltimore ceding the sixth-fewest fantasy points per game to the position. Warren should be left on the bench in Week 11.
