Is Jalen Williams playing tonight? Thunder star's final status at Knicks

Jalen Williams' injury-riddled 2025-26 season already has rendered him ineligible for postseason award consideration.

But with the Oklahoma City Thunder on course to finish with the NBA's best record for the second year running, Williams' chances at winning the postseason award that matters most remain pretty high.

The reigning NBA champion Thunder have found ways to flourish without Williams, who has missed 37 games this season due to wrist and hamstring injuries. He has been out since he sustained another hamstring strain against the Phoenix Suns on Feb. 11, and fans have been hoping that the All-Star guard would return to the fold on Wednesday night in New York -- where the Thunder will play the Knicks in a nationally-televised contest.

Will Jalen Williams play against the Knicks?

No, Williams remains out for Wednesday night's game against the Knicks, which tips off from Madison Square Garden at 7 p.m. Eastern on ESPN.

However, Williams' return to the court might not be far off.

The Thunder had set March 5 as the date on which Williams would be re-evaluated following his hamstring injury.

It is possible that Williams plays Saturday night against the Golden State Warriors, but the Thunder will want to balance that with playing it safe and not rushing Williams back before he is absolutely ready.

In 26 games this season, Williams is averaging 17.5 points on 47.9 percent shooting. Oklahoma City has lost nearly as many without Williams in the lineup (eight) as they have when he's played (seven).
