Is Jake Ferguson playing tonight? Why Cowboys TE is off to slow start vs. Giants

1 hour ago 3

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson is one of the better pass-catching tight ends in the NFL.

Ferguson has been an impact pass-catcher throughout his career, and he was a touchdown machine in 2025 after notching a career-high eight.

However, Ferguson isn't doing much of anything in the first half of the Week 1 game against the New York Giants.

Here's a closer look at what's going on.

Is Jake Ferguson playing tonight?

Yes, Ferguson is active, healthy and in the lineup, he just hasn't gotten going yet.

Through two quarters, Ferguson has yet to even see a target, let alone a catch.

Meanwhile, Dak Prescott has connected with the other two tight ends on Dallas' roster, Luke Schoonmaker and Brevyn Spann-Ford, and Prescott has connected with six pass-catchers in total.

The Cowboys' offense has struggled as a whole, and particularly in the passing game, where Dallas has yet to cross 70 yards through the air.

We can only hope the second half will yield better results for Ferguson, Prescott and the rest of the Cowboys' offense.
