Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams are prepared for a big 2026-27 season

After losing in the 2026 Western Conference Finals to the San Antonio Spurs, the Oklahoma City Thunder are motivated to get back to where they feel they belong. They were the defending champions at the time, but now they are challengers again.

That might be good for the Thunder because they seem to be locked into redeeming themselves. As OKC's best players, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams are ready to prove themselves again, as they are working hard in the offseason to get back to their best ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Gilgeous-Alexander was once again the NBA's standout player as he won the regular season MVP award for the second year in a row. Unfortunately for the Thunder, he did not have the best co-star possible because Chet Holmgren struggled in the postseason, especially in the series against the Spurs.

However, the biggest miss for OKC was Williams, who missed plenty of time due to injury.  He dealt with hamstring issues all year, so he was not able to help the Thunder get a more consistent rhythm, and they had to make adjustments to the team quite often.

Ahead of the 2026-27 season, it looks like Williams is doing better as he is working hard in the summer. He and Gilgeous-Alexander are working together, which is a massive boost for the Thunder because they want to have the most star power on the floor as possible.

Apart from this star duo, Holmgren is also hard at work. He is under the most pressure because he had a horrible run in the series against San Antonio. Holmgren will be motivated to make a difference because the Thunder are ready to win another championship.

With Gilgeous-Alexander and Williams showing what the Thunder are capable of, the rest of the team is ready to step up as well. With head coach Mark Daigneault in charge, this Thunder team will be a tough one to play against, and they might even be favorites to win it again.
