When George Kittle tore his Achilles' tendon in January, we weren't sure he would be able to get healthy in time to play in Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season.
However, Kittle at least put himself in position to play in Week 1 after he was activated off the physically unable to perform list earlier than expected.
In the week leading up to the game, Kittle was able to practice, but only on a limited basis.
Now, on Friday, the 49ers released their final injury report and gave us the answer on Kittle's status that we've all been waiting for.
Is George Kittle playing tonight?
Yes, George Kittle will suit up in Week 1 against the Los Angeles Rams, as the 49ers have removed him from the injury report entirely and he carries no status.
"After tearing his right Achilles tendon on January 11, and being listed as limited in practice this week, 49ers TE George Kittle is off the injury report and scheduled to return to play tonight in Australia against the Los Angeles Rams," ESPN's Adam Schefter wrote.
Kittle return to the field a day under eight months after tearing his Achilles is impressive in and of itself, but especially for a soon-to-be 33-year-old.
George Kittle fantasy football advice
According to Fantasy Pros, Kittle was tied for TE2 overall last season in fantasy points per game (14.7).
That shows Kittle was very much the elite tight end he has been for years now, which means he should be in lineups each and every week.
Our only concern this week is that Kittle could have his snaps limited in his first game back, but that's not enough to keep him on the bench.
Start Kittle and don't look back.
