The Orlando Magic will look to complete a first-round upset of the top-seeded Detroit Pistons with a win in Game 7 on Sunday afternoon.
Unfortunately for the Magic, they'll continue to be without a key contributor for the contest.
Franz Wager ruled out for Game 7 against Pistons due to calf strain
Magic forward Franz Wagner has been ruled out of the decisive Game 7 due to a right calf strain. It will be the third straight game missed by Wagner due to the injury. Teams are increasingly erring on the side of caution when it comes to calf strains, and that's likely the case here.
This is obviously a big blow for Orlando, as Wagner is one of the team's most productive players. It's not a coincidence that the Magic lost both of the games that Wagner missed in the series so far. Pulling out a win without him in Game 7 will be a tall task.
In the four games that he appeared in against Detroit in the series, Wagner averaged 16.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.8 steals in 30.5 minutes per performance.
If Orlando is able to advance past Detroit, perhaps Wagner would be able to return to game action for the Magic in the second round. If not, then Wagner has already played his last game of the season.
