Is Carnell Tate playing today? Ohio State Buckeyes WR has fans wondering if he's out for season

The Carnell Tate situation has gotten a little weirder.

And because of college football's relatively limited injury reporting news, Ohio State hasn't really cleared much up.

Tate has now missed a couple games in a row heading into the Buckeyes' Saturday clash with Rutgers.

No, OSU shouldn't need Tate to handle Rutgers, but The Game looms in a week's time.

Is Carnell Tate playing today?

There's no clarity on whether Tate is playing on Saturday.

On Wednesday, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day said of Tate and Jeremiah Smith both: "They're working hard to get back on the field."

The implication there is that they weren't back on the field yet, which given the proximity of Wednesday to a noon kickoff on Saturday, doesn't bode particularly well.

It was one thing to just be missing Tate, but to now have Smith as a question mark, too, is even worse.

When does Ohio State play Michigan?

The Buckeyes take on the Wolverines in a week, on Saturday, Nov. 29.

It's not clear at this point whether Tate will be out there for that one. It'd certainly be encouraging if he could get at least a little action against Rutgers to begin working his way back.
