Caitlin Clark is back.
The Indiana Fever's superstar point guard has not seen the court in a WNBA game, official or unofficial, in over nine months. But she is set to take to the hardwood at Barclays Center on Saturday, when the Fever and the New York Liberty will play a star-studded preseason game.
Fans understandably are eager to see Clark play for Indiana again after injuries limited her to just 13 games played during the 2025 season. But Stephanie White and the Fever coaching staff will be exercising caution with the two-time All-Star, two weeks before the 2026 campaign gets underway.
Clark's minutes to be monitored, but not restricted
Clark is not listed on the Fever's injury report, so it is expected that she will play against the Liberty on Saturday afternoon.
However, seeing as this preseason has no competitive stakes, it is unlikely that Clark will play anywhere near the full 40 minutes across four quarters.
Last May, Clark played 23 minutes against the Atlanta Dream in her lone preseason appearance. Against the Chicago Sky in the 2025 season opener a week later, Clark was a full go, playing 32 minutes and recording a triple-double
It is probable that the Fever are planning something similar on Saturday for Clark, who appears to have put her injury woes behind her after she starred at the FIBA Women's World Cup qualifying tournament in Puerto Rico last month. She has been a full participant at Indiana's training camp as well, where she has hinted at changes coming to the Fever offense now that she is healthy again.
