Iowa State's Audi Crooks reveals thoughts on transferring after season-ending loss

2 hours ago 3

Iowa State's season started so promisingly, but in the end, the Cyclones couldn't win even one game in the women's basketball NCAA Tournament.

Iowa State was eliminated Saturday in the 8-9 game in a loss to Syracuse, and now the futures of the Cyclones' stars are in question, starting with Audi Crooks.

The dominant center scored 37 points in her final game of the season but didn't get enough shooting from her teammates around her to keep up with the Orange.

On the season, Crooks averaged 25.8 points and 7.7 rebounds per game while shooting 64.9% from the floor.

She has eligibility remaining, and it's fair to wonder what might be next.

Crooks was asked about her future after Saturday's loss, and she held back a little on sharing anything of real substance. It seems to leave the door open to any outcome.

"Yeah, we're all still processing everything and just being there for each other right now is the priority," Crooks said Saturday, via the official NCAA transcript. "That's the main thing, making sure everybody is mentally okay through this tough time."

Crooks has played three seasons at Iowa State.

As a ball-dominant post player, she might not fit every system, but she could clearly contribute to any team that might want her, if she did decide to transfer.

At some point, Crooks will likely announce one way or the other what she plans on doing.

For now, Iowa State fans will simply have to wait and see if their best player will be back for another year.
