For Harrison Mullens, the opportunity to play Division I football was one he could not ignore. The Pella High School senior-to-be made his official college commitment public recently.

Mullens, a 6-foot-2, 170-pound athlete, has committed to play for South Dakota State University.

"After extensive deliberation, I am excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at South Dakota State University," Mullens posted on social media. "I am thankful to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for blessing me with the gifts to glorify him through sport. I am grateful for all of the teachers, coaches, mentors and teammates that have instructed and encouraged me throughout my life.

"I am grateful to my family. Words cannot adequately express my love, gratitude and appreciation for my parents and the sacrifices made so that I could pursue my dreams. Thank you to my village. The best is yet to come."
