Insider reveals which 3 pitchers Red Sox are having trade talks about

The Boston Red Sox have, after their $130 million signing of Ranger Suarez, opened the door to trading a starting pitcher away.

It's not a surprise hearing they've been in talks with other teams around the league, but the more interesting report is from Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic.

According to McCaffrey, there are three pitchers the Red Sox have had trade talks about this offseason. They're in active talks around the league, and these three starters are the ones the Red Sox are the most likely to trade away.

Red Sox in active trade talks on 3 starting pitchers

"Bello and Sandoval are among the starters who've surfaced in trade talks, according to a league source," McCaffrey writes, "while reliever Jordan hicks has also been discussed."

Bryan Bello and Patrick Sandoval are two pitchers with whom the Red Sox have been in trade talks this offseason. While others might be mentioned in negotiations, these two are the most noteworthy.

Boston ideally wouldn't want to move on from Peyton Tolle or Connelly Early, as they're young up-and-coming pitchers who could be staples of the rotation.

On the other hand, Bello and Sandoval, while solid starters, aren't anything special compared to their other options for the upcoming 2026 season.

Jordan Hicks is a reliever, but he was once used as a starter, and he, too, could be on the move this offseason as a trade chip to land an infielder.

Boston is looking for a new second baseman or third baseman, with Marcelo Mayer set to take over the other spot they don't address this winter.

But, for now, the trade activity with their pitching staff revolved mostly around Bello, Sandoval, and Hicks. While others might come up in talks, these three are the most likely to be on the move this offseason.
