LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers have been eliminated from the NBA season following their playoff loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Lakers lost 96-103 against the Timberwolves in their most recent game.

They came into the contest already down 1-3, and the recent defeat sealed their departure. There's much talk about James' future and whether the legendary figure will continue his career in the NBA.

Currently 40, this was James' 22nd year in the NBA. He has been with the Lakers since 2018.

Insider reveals details on LeBron James' career

ESPN journalist Shams Charania has now shared his take on LeBron James' future. He doesn't think James is walking away just yet and will continue playing for at least one more season.

Charania said, "There's no expectation for LeBron James to retire. My understanding is he'll play at least another NBA season. You think about 25-26, it'll be year 23 that'll set a league record. The all-star game is in Los Angeles, him potentially playing in Los Angeles."

He continued, "There's a lot of stars that'll align for next season, potentially, if that's what LeBron James decides. He'll be 41 years old in December, he's 40-years-old now. So, the expectation is he'll be playing at least another season."

He further said, "His son [Bryce James] is going to be potentially draft eligible in 2026. So if he feels next year that Bryce James is going to be a draft-eligible player, an NBA player, does he extend that window?"

Charania questions whether the potential of playing with his son could see LeBron James stay for another year. Charania continued that LeBron James wants to discuss thoroughly with his family and advisors before reaching a concrete decision.

Charania added that LeBron James would consider whether to opt in or not to the $54 million player option that the Lakers have. He also thinks that the Lakers' roster for the next season could play an important role in James' decision, as he can't consistently play centrally at this age.
