The Oklahoma City Thunder have a title to defend in 2025-26. But first, they continued their championship celebrations on Tuesday night prior to their season-opener.
Before Kevin Durant and the Houston Rockets paid a visit to Oklahoma City, the Thunder unveiled their championship banner and rings. For the first time in franchise history, Thunder players received their jewelry to commemorate the 2025 NBA Finals victory over the Indiana Pacers.
Title rings, from the Super Bowl to the NBA, typically involve some unique twists, custom designs and more. How are the rings for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and company designed?

Thunder championship ring design 2025
Oklahoma City's championship rings were unveiled on Tuesday night before its 2025-26 season-opener.
Here's a look at some of the features of the rings, players reactions and more.
Ring-inside-ring
Perhaps one of the most unique touches ever in a championship ring, the Thunder's title rings actually open up to unveil a smaller ring.
The top of the ring top opens, revealing another section with an engraving of the player’s signature and diamonds forming the player’s jersey number.

The Thunder championship rings were crafted from 14-karat white and yellow gold, including blue and orange sapphires. Additionally, there are diamonds for the respective player's number.
According to The Athletic, the rings feature more than 800 custom-cut, hand-set gemstones. There are 94 diamonds that sit along the top and bottom edges of the inner band.

Oklahoma City's rings primarily include the team's logo placed over top the Larry O'Brien trophy on top, "Oklahoma City" and the player's name on the side.
However, there are more small touches. The state Oklahoma motto, "LABOR OMNIA VINCIT," which means "Work Conquers All," is written inside the rings. Additionally, there are mentions of the team's 68-14 regular season record in 2024-25, engravings recapping the team's four playoff series victories, and a tribute to the Oklahoma City National Memorial’s Gates of Time and Reflecting Pool.

Details of the Oklahoma City Thunder championship ring cost have not yet been released.

Who made the Thunder championship ring?
Oklahoma City's title rings were manufactured by The Champions Collective, which is a new business entity within Jostens, a company that is known for its high school and college class rings.
Jostens also created the Florida Panthers' rings for winning the 2025 Stanley Cup in the NHL.

Based on past ring designs, NBA championship rings can cost anywhere between $10,000 to $50,000. Typically, the cost depends on the season, team and design chosen by the owner.
The NBA covers the cost of championship rings, which isn't very common across other leagues. The team still chooses its own ring design, however.
Thunder championship wins
The Thunder's 2025 title was their first in franchise history -- at least, since the team moved to Oklahoma City in 2008.
Prior to then, the Seattle Supersonics, the prior iteration of the franchise, did win one championship as well in 1979.
