A WWE champion was brutally assaulted backstage tonight. Vic Joseph has provided an update about him.

Ricky Saints and Trick Williams have been feuding with each other for the past few weeks. At Halloween Havoc, both men faced each other in a singles match with the NXT Title on the line. Despite Trick Williams' best effort, Ricky was able to retain his title. Last week on the black and silver brand, the former TNA World Champion demanded a rematch. Therefore, Ava booked these two men to settle their differences in a Last Man Standing Match, which will take place during next week's episode.

Tonight on WWE NXT, both men were involved in a backstage interview segment. They continued to take shots at each other. Things quickly escalated between them, which resulted in a brawl in the hallway. During the brawl, Trick Williams hit Saints with a steel pipe, hurting him in the process. Moments later in the show, Vic Joseph provided an injury update on Saints after his backstage assault.

"I just received word during commercial break that medical has arrived and are checking on the champion Ricky Saints after what we just saw moments ago between Saints and Trick Williams ahead of their Last Man Standing match."

WWE Hall of Famer Booker T was unhappy that Trick Williams lost at NXT Halloween Havoc

Trick Williams has gained a lot of supporters during his time in NXT. One of his biggest supporters has been Booker T. The WWE Hall of Famer is always hyped up during the former NXT Champion's entrance.

Therefore, when Trick challenged Ricky Saints for the NXT Championship, Booker T showed his support for the former on commentary. However, when the former TNA World Champion was unable to get the win, Booker T was not happy and even threw his headset away in frustration.

It will be interesting to see if Ricky Saints will be able to retain his title next week.
