Nebraska Volleyball's coach Dani Busboom Kelly opened up about her team's peerless performance this season after their win over Illinois. The Huskers defeated the Illinois team with a commanding scoreline of 3-0 on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at the John Cook Arena at Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.
The Cornhuskers did not let the opposite team cross 15 points in any sets, and registered 25-11, 25-15, 25-14 wins. With this triumph, the Huskers recorded their 14th straight sweep. They also extended their consecutive set victory streak to 43 and registered their 23rd win. So far, the Huskers team has been undefeated with a 23-0 record. In a press conference, following their win over Illinois, coach Busboom Kelly opened up about the team's formidable performance, highlighting that the opponent team couldn't handle the tipped shots.
Busboom Kelly also mentioned Laney Choboy's impressive performance, who was successful in covering the tips and recorded a career-high of 20 digs.
"Well, I thought tonight it was pretty huge and apparent," coach Busboom Kelly said. "I mean, Illinois could not get a tip down, and that's like the biggest energy suck when you let tips drop. So, Laney was picking them up from everywhere, and I think she did an awesome job just taking charge of that from the get-go." “Nebraska has always been great defensively and sometimes hasn’t put up offensive numbers," she said. “This year, we’re really putting up really high offensive numbers as well. It’s just the attention to detail and the awareness that we’re going to be great on both sides. We’re not going to rely on one or the other to win games.” (via si.com)Coach Busboom Kelly joined the Huskers program in January 2025 and replaced the legendary John Cook, who led the team for 25 years.
