John Cena's The Last Time is Now Tournament is set to kick off on WWE RAW in his hometown of Boston, Massachusetts, on November 10. The winner will get to face the Never Seen 17 in his final match at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 13.

So far, Gunther, Drew McIntyre, and Dominik Mysterio have been rumored as potential options for the Franchise Player to face in his retirement bout. However, could Triple H and the WWE creative team take a massive risk and push a former NXT Champion as John Cena's final opponent instead?

Carmelo Hayes made the move to the main roster in April 2024 and has become a regular on the blue-branded show. Though he has received a decent amount of exposure, he hasn't been presented as a main-eventer just yet, following memorable feuds with Andrade and now, The Miz. That could change if Triple H pushes Hayes to win the Last Time is Now Tournament.

The two Massachusetts natives could have an incredible match at Saturday Night's Main Event in December, and it would give Hayes' main roster career a major boost if he can defeat John Cena in his final WWE match. However, this angle remains speculation for now, and it remains to be seen whether Hayes indeed gets a shot at Cena.

Carmelo Hayes was sent a stern warning by John Cena's former rival on SmackDown

Last week on the blue-branded show, Carmelo Hayes defeated Kit Wilson but was attacked by The Miz. The former WWE Champion hit Hayes with a Skull Crushing Finale from behind, telling him:

"It's not over until I say it's over."

Before his match with Wilson, the former NXT star claimed that he and The Miz were even after previously attacking each other once. However, The Miz clearly wasn't done, and seemingly renewed their feud by attacking the 31-year-old. It remains to be seen whether the two will eventually face each other in the ring to settle their issues.
