“I wasn’t hurt by her” - Stamp Fairtex says she was never in danger against Kana Morimoto

Thai megastar Stamp Fairtex believes she wasn't in any real danger during her atomweight kickboxing tiff alongside former K-1 champion Kana Morimoto at ONE 173.

The former three-sport ONE world champion made the walk towards the global stage for the first time since September 2023 to challenge the Japanese slugger inside the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan, last Sunday, Nov. 16.

Though she was outpointed by the Team Aftermath warrior's precise striking and volume throughout the nine-minute duel, the Fairtex Training Center athlete told Nick Atkin in a backstage interview that she wasn't really under any huge offensive threat.

"I wasn’t hurt by her. I wasn’t hurt by her kicks at all. But it’s just like that time, it was all about her momentum. When she was throwing those calf kicks, and I was trying to step forward, so it caught me off balance," The Thai megastar, who celebrated her 28th birthday on fight night, shared.

While Stamp Fairtex's hotly anticipated return to the Circle didn't go as planned, the Pattaya-based fighter did remarkably well, considering she spent more than 24 months on the sidelines.

Kana gives credit to Stamp Fairtex after intense battle in Tokyo

Kana Morimoto believes Stamp Fairtex did remarkably well in her return fight inside the ONE Circle.

Kana, who earned a unanimous decision win over the Thai in Tokyo, was full of praise for the 28-year-old during the ONE 173 post-fight press conference last week.

"First of all, thank you, everybody, for the support. And secondly, to Stamp, for accepting this fight after the long layoff. Please give her a huge round of applause," the former K-1 champ shared.
