Star Indian cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues made a hilarious quip on the sidelines of the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) match on Sunday, November 9, at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane. The 25-year-old, who plies her trade for the Brisbane Heat, said she was uncertain if Australia would allow her to cross the border after her performance against them in the recent 2025 World Cup semifinal.
Rodrigues delivered the performance of her life against defending champions Australia at the D.Y Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on October 30. Chasing a daunting target of 339, Rodrigues hit 127* off 134 deliveries as the Women in Blue entered the final with five wickets and nine balls to spare. It not only knocked Australia out of the competition but also consigned them to their first World Cup loss since 2017.
Speaking on the sidelines of WBBL 2025, Jemimah Rodrigues said:
"I was not sure if Australia will allow me to cross the border after the semifinals. But honestly, everyone has been so warm and welcoming, and everyone is so happy in general for the growth of women’s cricket. We know that it’s going to change the game massively, not just in India but all over the world."Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, India created history by clinching their first World Cup title as they defeated South Africa in the final. Rodrigues couldn't quite make it count in the final, managing only 24 runs. However, the total of 298 in the first innings was enough, as the hosts won by 52 runs.

Nadine de Klerk (40), Chinelle Henry (29), and Georgia Redmayne (16) were the only Brisbane Heat batters to reach double figures, as they managed 133 in their 20 overs.
In reply, Renegades found themselves at 66/3 after 7.3 overs before rain intervened. Nevertheless, the Renegades were declared winners via the DLS method.
