Femke Bol revealed that she would be embarking on her first training camp for the upcoming season. The 2026 season will pose new challenges to the Olympic gold medalist as she will be competing in the 800m for the first time professionally.
After winning the gold medal at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo in the women's 400m hurdles, Femke Bol announced her decision to switch events and compete in the 800m. The Dutch athlete expressed that she wanted to step out of her comfort zone and push herself to the utmost limits with the support of her team.
To make a transition to the middle-distance event, Femke Bol has been consistently working towards improving her endurance and often shares glimpses of her workouts on her official social media handle. Recently, the Dutch athlete shared that she would be going for her first training camp in South Africa, as her body slowly got accustomed to the 800m training.
South Africa has some high-altitude trails that are used by athletes to build their endurance base, as well as for aerobic training.
"Time for the first camp of the season 🇿🇦☀️ Body and mind slowly but surely getting used to the 800m trainings. I’ve got a lot to learn, a lot of kilometres to run, there’ll be some more trials and errors, but mostly I’m enjoying this new road ⭐️" she wrote.Bol expressed her excitement for her new journey and hoped to put her best foot forward while competing in the new event.
