J.J. Watt is currently enjoying his first season as a game analyst for CBS. But what he does not like is not being able to watch games at home.
At midnight last Thursday, YouTube TV's content agreement with the Disney group expired. This meant that ESPN, among others, could no longer be streamed on the online platform.
The situation remains unresolved as of now, negatively affecting many, including Watt. The former three-time Defensive Player of the Year ranted about it on social media:

So we’re just not watching Monday Night Football huh? I’m not buying another streaming subscription…
He later added:
"The crazy part is, I have some sort of subscription because I watch Espanyol matches on ESPN+ But I can’t watch MNF. I don’t understand it and quite frankly just don’t really care to figure it out right now. Just frustrating. All of it."The crazy part is, I have some sort of subscription because I watch Espanyol matches on ESPN+ But I can’t watch MNF. J.J. Watt now a member of Spanish soccer club's ownership board
Ever since he hung up his helmet and cleats after the 2022 season, J.J. Watt has been busy focusing on the other type of football. In 2023, he and his wife Kealia, herself a former soccer player, were announced as minority investors in English club Burnley. He was even a guest player for them in a special seven-on-seven tournament the following year.
And last month, he added La Liga side Espanyol to his portfolio, as Burnley's owners Velocity Sports Limited (VSL) announced that it had completed a takeover from the China-based Ratstar Group, which had owned the club since 2015.
Watt himself reacted to the development on his social media account:
In a press statement, chairperson Alan Pace promised that both squads would retain their respective identities under the VSL umbrella:
"Our role is not to replace legacy, but to build upon it, with care, with clarity, and with purpose. This is not about ownership; it's about stewardship. "We are here to do the work. Honestly, carefully, and openly. To respect the past, support the present, and shape a future worthy of both clubs' proud traditions. This is how football evolves, with its people, for its people and always for the beautiful game."The takeover makes VSL the latest group to own multiple football clubs. For context, the City Football Group owns 13.
