Biff Poggi believes he's the ideal candidate for the Michigan Wolverines head coach job. The interim head coach has made his intentions clear as the Wolverines are rounding up the process to get a full-time HC.

"Because I know what the hell I'm doing. ... I want to fix this program." said Poggi when asked why he would be a strong choice for the long-term job.

Poggi highlighted Michigan's challenges over the past few seasons.

"It's been five years of a malfunctioning organization. Let's call it what it is: It's happened every year. The athletic director doesn't want any more of that." said the interim head coach.

This is Poggi's third stint with the Michigan Wolverines. He has worked with the immediate past coaches, Sherrone Moore and Jim Harbaugh.

He's now set to lead the Wolverines on the field for their Cheez-It Citrus Bowl game against the Texas Longhorns. It's looking increasingly likely that Michigan will make its decision before the December 31 game.

Biff Poggi among contenders to replace Sherrone Moore

The Michigan Wolverines' job is one of the most appealing in college football. Sherrone Moore's abrupt firing has put the program in a difficult position to employ their next full-time head coach.

According to Fox Sports, Poggi interviewed for the job.

"I'm being considered. I've had multiple interviews and multiple conversations. Nobody knows what's going to happen. I don't know what's going to happen. I appreciate being considered, and we'll see what happens," said Poggi when asked about his current status.

He believes that he has what it takes to lead the Wolverines in their next era. However, other big names have been linked to the gig.

Joel Klatt believed that the Wolverines are targeting Kalen DeBoer, Kenny Dillingham, and Clark Lea. Playoff-caliber teams currently employ all three coaches.

Dillingham is out of the picture after signing a long-term extension with Arizona State, and DeBoer is in the middle of a national championship race. At the same time, Lea agreed to improved terms with Vanderbilt. It'll be interesting to see the coach entrusted with the keys to the Wolverines.
