Tom Aspinall’s father Andy, issued a heartwarming message for him and Ciryl Gane ahead of their highly anticipated clash at UFC 321, wishing them luck.

Aspinall made his octagon return to defend his undisputed heavyweight throne against Gane in the main event of UFC 321 last Saturday at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. However, their title fight was declared a no contest after the Frenchman accidentally eyepoked Aspinall at the end of the first round.

Before their matchup, both Aspinall and Gane received a message from Andy, who told them to put on a strong show and get out of the cage safely. Red Corner MMA recently shared his remarks, which stated:

''I'd like to see Tom go two or three rounds and show more skill because most people think that the heavyweight division's rubbish, shallow because, maybe because Tom's knocked some of them out very quickly. Doesn't mean they're bad. It means that he was just better and did what he did on that particular night. You know, when they fight each other, they don't knock each other out in a minute usually. He's got a talent for doing it and he's done it. It doesn't mean he's going to do it every time. And it doesn't mean that he's going to set the world on fire every time he fights. We want him to go out there and be steady and it's not reckless.''

He added:

''I'd like him to win the fight, but I want them both to come off okay...The social side, I just like the training and the fighting. So I hope they both come off alright. I hope they both make tons of cash in their careers and that they're both okay going forward.''

Ex-champion reacts to Tom Aspinall's potential switch to boxing

Prior to UFC 321, Tom Aspinall's father hinted at his plans to enter the boxing world after his contract with the MMA organization ended.

In a recent episode of the Pound 4 Pound podcast, former double champion Henry Cejudo gave his thoughts on Andy Aspinall's comments:

''[Aspinall's] dad was saying about him transferring over to boxing…There’s some things that you probably shouldn’t say publicly, but obviously, dads will be dads, and they’re going to say whatever it is that they want to say. And his dad was saying, yeah, they don’t, I don’t think they want to resign with the UFC. So that mean, he was on a three-fight contract with the UFC to renegotiate. Now he’s down to two because of this fight.'' [10:44 of the video]
