I hate change, but this new silk pillow won me over with my deepest sleep yet

1 hour ago 3

As a beauty lover, my goals are always the same: healthy long hair, slowing down the aging process and obsessing over a truly good night’s sleep.

Let’s face it, everyone will get wrinkles (unless you live inside a digital filter), but I think I’ve finally found something that helps.

We have all heard of silk pillowcases and their legendary benefits, from preventing sleep wrinkles to saving our hair strands from breakage, but have you ever actually slept on a silk-filled pillow? I hadn’t until this past month, when I finally decided to give the one from Cozy Earth a whirl.

With Sleep Week coming up (March 8 through March 14), I’ve been putting every creature comfort to the test, from cooling bamboo sheets to the best pajamas I’ve ever worn (hint: it’s Cozy Earth). This may be the best item I’ve tested yet.

What is a silk pillow?

A silk pillow is filled with exactly what you’d think: 100% long-strand mulberry silk. Sleeping on 100% long-strand mulberry silk sounds like something out of a fairytale cartoon, but the benefits are very real and luxurious. It’s designed to give real-life humans temperature-regulating support, keeping you cool while you sleep.

The fabric shell is made from premium bamboo viscose to stay on theme with the cooling magic, and it fits the silk pillowcase perfectly to maintain that regulating, wrinkle-free aesthetic.

Pros:

  • Long-strand mulberry silk is woven in place so the filling never shifts or gets lumpy
  • It’s HSA/FSA eligible through Truemed
  • Includes a 100-night sleep trial and a 10-year warranty against defects
  • Hypoallergenic and great for sensitive skin

Cons:

  • Very expensive
  • Dry clean only

Cozy Earth engineered this pillow with long-strand mulberry silk, woven in place to prevent the filling from shifting or clumping over time. This architectural design allows your head to sink in while maintaining consistent support night after night. Unlike memory foam, which traps heat, or down that can feel stifling, the combination of silk and a bamboo viscose shell creates a highly breathable surface. It naturally wicks away moisture, which explains why the pillow remains cool.

The pillow currently holds an impressive 4.8-star rating across 710 reviews that closely mirror my own positive experience. It is available in a standard size, which I used for this test, as well as a king size for larger beds. It is also HSA/FSA eligible through Truemed, providing a helpful tax-advantaged way to invest in your sleep if the upfront cost is a barrier to entry. It’s also dry-clean-only, which can add to the cost.

My Cozy Earth Silk Pillow Review

When it comes to sleeping, I’m super picky about what I use. When I first heard about this “silk pillow” I was skeptical if this was some thing people should spend their money on.

I’ve been using the same pillow I stole from my mom’s house 15 years ago. It’s a cheap down-alternative-filled pillow that I haven’t been able to find anywhere else. I’ve tested several pillows from Sleep Number and a bunch of other brands, and yet this is the first pillow I have used all night without tossing it to the side and slipping my OG pillow under my head.

Why? Because once I place my head down to rest, I actually don’t wake until morning. It’s almost like a sleeping pill. Unlike down pillows, it doesn’t prod and poke me with feathers. Compared to down alternatives, it’s not as fluffy, but dare I say it’s more supportive?

Material and Feel

Silk is the gold standard for restorative sleep. Unlike cotton, which acts like a sponge for your natural oils, silk leaves your skin’s moisture barrier intact. Although it does soak up some moisture, it never feels wet like cotton does, and it gives your skin and hair a fighting chance to use its natural resources.

Expensive serums and nighttime moisturizers actually stay on your face where they belong, rather than soaking into your pillow. It’s the ultimate “beauty sleep” secret for anyone looking to maximize their skincare routine and protect their hair’s natural strength.

I’ll try to show you the spring-like action the silk provides in the video below, so you can appreciate how it rallies around your neck. I’ve been testing it for 2-3 weeks, and thus far, it hasn’t been squished and it springs back into place for neck support.

Care

To preserve the integrity of the long-strand silk, spot cleaning or dry cleaning is recommended. To keep your investment in pristine condition, Cozy Earth strongly recommends using a protective pillowcase.

The brand offers a 100-night sleep trial and a 10-year warranty.

Is the Cozy Earth Silk Pillow worth it?

Not to be flippent but it depends on whether you want an excellent night’s sleep or not. I put this pillow to the ultimate test after a few too many cocktails, the kind of night that usually ends in overheating and tossing and turning.

Instead, I stayed perfectly cool. Beyond the deep sleep, my hairdresser is actually stunned by how strong my hair looks lately. I haven’t even been taking my usual supplements, so the only variable is the silk. If you want better rest and a non-topical hair treatment, it’s worth every penny.

If the pillow is out of your price range, I suggest trying a silk pillowcase. I’ve tested several silk pillowcases and got so frustrated with one that I took it off midsleep. Not the case with the one from Cozy Earth. It doesn’t slip and slide all over the place.

I truly believe in this brand and its commitment to making high-quality products worth investing in, and I own everything from a Bubble Cuddle Blanket to socks. I’m now a lifelong customer, and if you give them a chance, you might become one too.

I’d definitely buy one of these pillows if you’re looking for deep, restful sleep. You should buy it if you are tired of hot flashes, broken hair, and waking up feeling like your night cream ended up on your pillowcase instead of your skin.

The final verdict is that it is a rare luxury item that performs as well as its marketing claims, delivering a fairytale feel with real-world results. Sorry to say it works.

How We Tested

I tested this by sleeping on it every night for nearly three weeks after testing several other pillows. I evaluated the loft and support by sleeping in various positions, from my back to my side, to determine how the long-strand silk compresses over several hours of rest. I checked for any clumping or shifting of the internal fibers after use, as well as inspected the constituion of the pillow to make sure the filling remained as smooth and evenly distributed as on day one. It passed the test each time!
