Hypothetical trade sends Celtics' Jaylen Brown to Grizzlies for controversial star

6 hours ago 1

Jaylen Brown has been on the Boston Celtics for nine years, but that could change this summer.

Loyalty is hard to come by nowadays, as most players search for championship rings. Jaylen Brown secured his last season with the Boston Celtics, and now they could be searching for a long-term improvement.

In a hypothetical deal involving Jaylen Brown being sent to the Memphis Grizzlies for star guard Ja Morant, it could be beneficial for both teams.

With Jayson Tatum suffering a season-ending injury in the second round of the playoffs, the direction of the Celtics may be unclear.

Now that the Grizzlies appear open to making moves with the recent Desmond Bane move, they could be willing to restructure their roster.

A hypothetical trade involving the two could be structured around Brown and Jrue Holiday, in return for Morant, Cole Anthony, and recently acquired Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.

Morant is a Hall of Fame-level rim-attacker, which is something the Celtics could benefit from.

Their distinguishable “Mazzulla ball” of simplified drive and kick basketball is a system Morant could thrive in.

On the other hand, Brown has been questioned throughout his career about whether or not he could be the first option on his own team.

This trade would give him the chance to do that.

Two high-flying athletic guards being essentially swapped for each other could be interesting, and both teams certainly would be in the market to do so.
