"Aaron Judge has been demonstrably better" - Sportscaster questions Shohei Ohtani's place among Usain Bolt, Serena Williams, Tiger Woods

Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge were a class apart in the 2024 regular season from the rest of the pack in the National League and American League, respectively. The duo unanimously won the MVP titles and have the best odds to win it again in 2025.

Ohtani recently garnered huge praise from sportscaster Colin Cowherd, who placed him on the same level as Michael Phelps, Usain Bolt, Wayne Gretzky, Serena Williams, and Tiger Woods. Cowherd claimed they are in his "Mount Just-More," highlighting that they are far superior to the second-best.

Fellow sportscaster Nick Wright disagreed with Cowherd's placing Ohtani on the same level as the others. Wright shared his thoughts on Tuesday's episode of "The Herd with Colin Cowherd."

"He (Shohei Ohtani) hasn’t pitched in a couple of years," Wright said (from 1:17). "Until we see him return to be a regular dominant pitcher, hasn’t his place, forget a top Mount Just-more in history, right now at this moment, he's not the best player in baseball. Aaron Judge is, right? Because Judge has been demonstrably a better hitter this year."

Wright noted that Judge has had troubles in the postseason, but pointed out Shohei Ohtani's status as the best is justifiable only when he pitches and hits at "A-plus or an A-minus" level.

"I need him to start pitching again," Wright added. "I know he threw the inning last night, but before he gets elevated there or, ... I know you already coined 'better than Babe,' which was great, but this year, I don’t know that he’s been better than Betts because he’s just playing the one position. So is that not fair?"

The sportscaster also discredited Michael Phelps from "Mount Just-More," pointing out that athletes like Usain Bolt and Simone Biles only have limited medals to win in the Olympics. On the contrary, a swimmer can win different medals for the same distance for different stroke events, i.e, freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly.

How did Shohei Ohtani and others get into "Mount Just-More"

Sportscaster Colin Cowherd didn't look into advanced statistics to name his "Mount Just-More". For Michael Phelps, Cowherd pointed out that he has 10 more Olympic medals and 14 more gold medals than any other swimmer.

Usain Bolt's hat-trick of Olympic Gold Medals in 100m and 200m from the 2008, 2012, and 2016 Olympics got him the nod, while Serena Williams' record of most grand slam singles (23) in the open era got her the nod.

Wayne Gretzky entered courtesy of his 8 NHL MVP titles, and 55 NHL records, while Tiger Woods entered due to his highest career earnings in Golf, though he had the lowest average.

As for Shohei Ohtani, Cowherd pointed out that the Dodgers superstar poses a triple threat. In addition to being an elite slugger and ace pitcher, Cowherd mentioned that Ohtani is an adept base stealer.
