Huge crowds gathered outside the Eden Gardens in Kolkata for the ticket collection ahead of the first Test between India and South Africa. India are set to host South Africa for a two-match series.

The first match is set to begin on Friday, November 14, at the Eden Gardens. Ahead of the same, the offline ticket sales have begun outside the stadium. A video posted by a user on Instagram showed a large number of fans outside the venue queuing up to collect tickets.

Fans could be seen waiting in long and multiple lines under the hot sun in front of the ticket counters ahead of the opening game. The user also mentioned that offline tickets were being sold only for days one, two, four, and five. Further, the user mentioned that online tickets could also be redeemed outside the stadium.

The Indian team had already arrived in Kolkata for the fixture. They were in Australia for the recently concluded multi-format white-ball series. The second of the two-match series will begin on Saturday, November 22, in Guwahati.

India will aim to carry momentum from recent Test series win at home against West Indies

Before the Australia tour, India hosted the West Indies for a two-match Test series. The first game was played in Ahmedabad, while the second was played in Delhi. India clean sweeped the series 2-0 as expected.

They dominated the first clash and won by an innings and 140 runs. In the second game, they put up a convincing performance to win by seven wickets. Therefore, the hosts will be keen to carry the momentum forward against the current World Test Championship (WTC) champions.

The last time South Africa played a Test series in India was in 2019/20. It was a three-match series that the hosts won 3-0. India won the first match by 203 runs, the second by an innings and 137 runs, and the third by an innings and 202 runs.

While they will aim for a similar performance and another series win, South Africa will be eager to redeem themselves this time around.
