“I got a lot of experience in that fight” - Nabil Anane says fight against Ilias Ennahachi taught him key lessons

Nabil Anane tried his luck in kickboxing in 2025, coming away with satisfactory results. The 21-year-old six-foot-four inch tall Algerian-Thai phenom used every bit of his height and reach to terrorize his opponents in the ring.

Anane faced off against former flyweight kickboxing king Ilias Ennahachi first in September, before taking on Japanese phenom Hiromi Wajima last month.

He defeated Wajima via unanimous decision, but his bout against Ennhachai ended in a no contest after Anane landed an unintentional low blow.

Afterward, Anane spoke of the experience. He told the world’s largest martial arts organization:

“It’s not easy, you know. Ennahachi is a very good fighter also. He was very fast. What did I learn? I got a lot of experience in that fight. It was my first kickboxing fight. I need more experience, a lot more.”

Anane continued:

“I also proved that I can fight in kickboxing. First fight, I fought against Ennahachi, and you saw it. Second fight, I fought at 70 kilos, not even my division, featherweight, and I won against a K-1 Champion. I think I already proved that I can [do] well in this sport too.”

Nabil Anane isn’t just a kickboxer though, he’s also the reigning ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion, and there’s one man who wants his gold, Jonathan ‘The General’ Haggerty.

Haggerty is all praise for Anane, but he’s also lobbying for a shot at his Muay Thai belt. ‘The General’ told Nick Atkin:

“It's just up to him, you know, and how his body grows. I believe he's still young as well, so he'll only grow bigger, only get stronger. So maybe in the future he'll move up, but right now he's in the bantamweight division and he's got what I want.”
