The 2025 season, while still somehow successful, has been one to forget for the Houston Astros.
Despite still being heavily involved in the hunt for the AL West crown along with the Seattle Mariners and now the Texas Rangers, injuries have played a massive role in the Astros' struggles over the past few months, which have allowed the two aforementioned teams to close the gap in the race.
But there has been one reliable Astro in the lineup, and it's exactly who you'd expect, designated hitter Yordan Alvarez.
Yordan Alvarez = Lineup Lifesaver
After missing three months with a fractured hand, Houston's biggest power bat is back in the lineup, and he has been nothing short of terrific, making up for his lengthy absence by returning with the same power and prowess that he has been gracing the Space City lineup with since his debut in 2019.
Since returning at the end of August, Alvarez boasts a whopping .386 average with three long balls and nine runs batted in, and his discipline has been on heavy display as well, only being fanned eight times.
Unfortunately, Alvarez has been the only consistent one in the Astros lineup as of late, and if they can't get the bats hot soon, especially this close to the postseason, then there could be a repeat of the team's early exit they suffered last year at the hands of the Detroit Tigers, who will definitely find themselves in the playoffs this year, barring complete and utter disaster.
