Aging is now the biggest consideration that the Golden State Warriors have to face. Their core of Draymond Green and Stephen Curry will likely not play past the 2020s so making the most out of their two legends is paramount. This is where the NBA Draft comes in. The front office have to find a two-way player who can help hide their veteran guard on defense. Thankfully, Brayden Burries out of the Arizona Wildcats will be available when the time comes.
Who is his top NBA Draft comparison? It is none other than Boston Celtics' insanely talented defender — Derrick White.
ESPN draws Burries-White comparison that benefits Curry's Warriors
See, the Warriors have great scoring firepower but their defensive prowess often leads to a lot of losses. Draymond Green was not the same defender that he was and Stephen Curry gets hunted by opponents more than ever. Brayden Burries would be a great help to this squad in gunning for another NBA championship.
ESPN's Jeremy Woo and Tim Bontemps project that the Warriors would land Burries, who is fresh out of Arizona, with the 11th pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. The player archetype who is very similar with is Derrick White from the Celtics.
Woo and Bontemps describe Burries as a 'solid two-way profile for a combo guard, a jack-of-all-trades with no truly elite skill but also no glaring hole.'
Hilariously, Burries was not only compared to White. ESPN also thinks that the 16.1 points per game scorer out of Arizona has great qualities that are reminiscent of Brandin Podziemski. Yes, Curry's backup in the current Warriors rotation.
"He's maybe a bit less scrappy, but he's got more off the bounce than Podz," ESPN said.
If all goes well in the NBA Draft and Warriors development program, Burries can also have the same ceiling as Jamal Murray but that only happens if his offensive upside increases rapidly over time. Regardless, the Warriors are going to get an insanely talented scorer who can also defend well. With Podziemski and Curry playing alongside Burries, the Warriors could have a fairly stacked guard rotation geared towards competing for another banner.
