How to watch Barbers Hill vs. Angleton in Texas high school softball playoffs

A berth in the state semifinals is at stake when Texas high school softball teams Barbers Hill and Angleton square off.

Barbers Hill takes on Angleton in a best-of-three UIL 5A Division I regional final beginning Thursday night. All potential three games in this series will take place at Deer Park High School.

Entering the regional finals, Barbers Hill has been one of the top teams not just in the state but the nation. The Eagles sport a 32-3 record and have won 23 of their last 24 ballgames.

Barbers Hill got two-game sweeps in each of its first two postseason rounds. Then in the regional semifinals, a one-game playoff, the Eagles rolled past Georgetown East View, 13-2, with JosLynn Cooper helping pace the offense with a pair of extra-base hits.

Angleton enters its regional final at 21-3 overall. Two weeks ago in the area round, the Wildcats got past Crosby in a pair of one-run wins, including a 2-1 decision in 10 innings.

But last week, the Wildcats were very dominant in a two-game regional semifinal sweep of Hendrickson, winning 11-0 and 14-2.

Lily Soliz, a senior and McNeese State commit, leads the team in hitting (.439), on-base percentage (.541) and slugging (.667), while senior Lily Calderon, an Alabama A&M signee, is the RBI leader (24). Both Soliz and Calderon each have three home runs.

The winner of Barbers Hill-Angleton advances to next week’s 5A DI semifinal against the winner of the regional final between Leander and Smithson Valley.
