The Golden State Warriors were bounced from the 2025 NBA Playoffs on Wednesday night, as they suffered a 121-110 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 5 of their Western Conference semifinals series. After losing Stephen Curry in Game 1 to a hamstring injury, the Warriors weren't able to recover, and their season has come to an end as a result.
The vibes were high in Golden State entering this battle with Minnesota, as they just took down a tough upstart Houston Rockets team in seven games in their first-round series. Curry worked diligently behind the scenes to get himself healthy, but the four games he missed ended up being all the Timberwolves needed to send them packing.
Had the Warriors staved off elimination, it was fair to wonder whether or not Curry would have been able to return. According to the man himself, all signs were pointing to him playing in a potential Game 6, which will only make the sting of losing Game 5 even more painful.
"Everything was kind of aligned for Game 6," Curry said on Thursday, per Anthony Slater of The Athletic. "I had some testing to do, and who knows how that would have went, because I hadn't gone live since Game 1, and first time dealing with this injury. I was pretty optimistic."
Steph Curry said “everything was aligned” for his Game 6 return. Just needed to clear some final testing.

While Golden State ultimately remained competitive in Curry's absence, they weren't able to survive without him, sending the team into the offseason on a tough note. Now, the front office will head back to the drawing board as they look for ways to build their roster around Curry in an effort to maximize his last few years in the NBA.
