Although it looks much difficult, you can quickly defeat her with the best Pokemon and their movesets.

Best Pokemon types and strategies to defeat Gwynn in Pokemon Legends Z-A

During the Rank D main mission, you will eventually come across the sewer area, where you will face Gwynn. To progress, you must defeat her in a 1v1 battle. Gwynn will have a team consisting of Ghost-type Pokemon. Here are Gwynn’s Pokemon that you will face during the battle:

  • Banette (Lv 43)
  • Gourgeist (Lv 44)
  • Chandelure (Mega of Lv 45)

Since Gwynn mainly uses Ghost-type Pokemon, the best way to counter them is with strong Dark-type moves. Here are the best moves that can easily defeat Gwynn:

  • Cruch
  • Night Slash
  • Bubble Beam
  • Slash
  • Ice Fang

You can consider some powerful Pokemon such as Greninja, Feraligatr, or Absol. However, ensure they are at least level 45 or higher to stand a fair chance. If you are using Greninja, simply go with the Night Slash move, which has a base power of 70 and can easily defeat most of Gwynn’s team.

For Feraligatr, Crunch, a Dark-type move, is your best bet, as it deals heavy damage and, with a single hit, can eliminate most of Gwynn’s Pokemon. When facing the Chandelure, start by using Crunch to deal heavy Dark-type damage, then follow up with Bubble Beam to finish it off. This combo can completely drain Chandelure’s HP, allowing you to defeat Gwynn without taking any damage.

And if you are using Absol, Slash is a reliable Normal-type move that can also help you finish the battle quickly. Mega Evolving your Pokemon would be a great way to defeat all of the opponent's Pokemon.
