The in-game Currency Exchange in Path of Exile 2 allows you to make a quick buck. However, the feature is only available after completing the Hostile Takeover side quest. Completing it will grant you access to the in-game currency market, where you can exchange various items that you can’t list for sale through Asynchronous trading. It also allows bulk exchange, which comes in handy if you’re planning to go on a crafting spree.
Note that the Currency Exchange is different from Asynchronous trading. With that cleared, here’s how to complete the Hostile Takeover in Path of Exile 2.
Hostile Takeover walkthrough in Path of Exile 2
Find Ange near the pier (Image via GGG)To begin Hostile Takeover, you’ll need to reach Act 4 and talk to Ange. She will be standing near the pier, right in front of Rog’s disenchantment shop. Interacting with her will begin the quest in which she offers to serve as the intermediary for purchasing and selling items.
However, before you can start bartering for items, she’ll ask to secure a hideout to set up shop. The process of completing the quest from this point can be different. Here are the two possible scenarios:
1) Don’t have a hideout in Path of Exile 2
Defeat Diamora at Whakapanu Island to progress the quest (Image via GGG)To progress the quest, you’ll need to gain access to a hideout. If you’re playing PoE2 for the first time, Act 4 features one of the freebies in one of the islands. Sail to the Whakapanu Island and defeat Diamora within the Singing Caverns. Then, return to Ange and speak to her for further directions.
She’ll ask you to travel to the Shoreline Hideout for an inspection. Once there, you’ll need to clear the area by defeating all enemies. After that, speak to Ange one last time to complete the Hostile Takeover quest.
2) Already have a hideout in Path of Exile 2
Travel to the hideout and speak to Ange after visiting her in Kingsmarch (Image via GGG)If you previously unlocked a hideout, fast-travel to the location and talk to Ange to complete the quest. Note that even if you can travel to the hideout during earlier Acts, Ange will not appear there until you complete the conversation with her at Kingsmarch, meaning the Currency Exchange is unavailable until Act 4.
In addition to Currency Exchange, Ange also allows you to list items through Asynchronous trading. Using the Merchant’s Tab, you can list gear and other items, which other players can search and purchase. Both buying and listing items also cost Gold depending on the item level.
