Unlike some other Winter Olympic events, figure skating tends to be a sport dominated by younger athletes.
It's fairly common to see teenagers out on the ice for figure skating events, largely due to the fact that it's easier to maneuver on the ice with a lighter, more flexible body. A 19-year-old will certainly find it easier to find figure skating success than a 30 year-old.
However, even being on the earlier side of 30, the United States' Amber Glenn is making some history as one of the oldest skaters in the history of the country's competition in the Winter Olympics.
Here's how Glenn's age compares to the oldest USA figure skaters.
