Pop culture podcaster Perez Hilton took swipes at Nicki Minaj's recent interview with Erika Kirk at TPUSA AmFest. On Sunday, the pop star made a guest appearance at Turning Point's annual conference, where several conservative personalities delivered speeches. Minaj sat down for a conversation with Erika Kirk and shared her thoughts on faith and politics.
In her speech, the Anaconda artist heaped praise on AmFest and said:
"I've performed for crowds, huge crowds all around the world. And no matter how many songs I do on that stage, it didn't mean as much as this because this is a direct link for younger people. This is a direct link between young people and God."Nicki Minaj on being at AmFest 2025: “I’ve traveled the world. I’ve performed for huge crowds all around the world. And no matter how many songs I do on that stage, it didn’t mean as much as this.”@NICKIMINAJ
Perez Hilton reacted to Nicki Minaj's discussion with Erika Kirk in the Sunday episode of his podcast. Referring to Nicki Minaj's endorsement of AmFest, Hilton remarked:
"The zero-time Grammy award-winning rapper wants you all to know how much her appearance today at the Turning Point's conference means to her... And what I want to really know is how much was Nicki paid. Get that bag. I'm not even mad. I'm especially not mad because I have gotten to a place of detachment."Elsewhere in the episode, the podcaster said that many people had remained critical of Nicki Minaj since "she came out as MAGA." The pop culture commentator stated he was not among those who disliked the vocalist for her political beliefs, but said he disliked her because "she’s a horrible human being."
Perez Hilton also played a clip from Minaj's AmFest interview wherein she responded to her critics. When Erika Kirk asked the rapper about her thoughts on backlash from her own industry, Minaj responded that she "didn't notice."
Perez Hilton takes a swipe at Nicki Minaj’s husband and brother after she backs Trump at AmFest
At Turning Point's Sunday event, Nicki Minaj commended the current US administration and said that it is "full of love and soul." She also praised President Trump and said that he had given so many people hope. Referring to Donald Trump and JD Vance, Minaj remarked that she could "relate to them." She added that "they haven't lost touch of the world" and are still connected to it.
Perez Hilton, in his podcast, commented that Minaj "has gone full MAGA" following her recent UN speech. The podcaster made a dig at Nicki Minaj's husband and her brother.
"Nicki, who's married to, um, you can look up for yourselves, if you don't know what he's been convicted of. And also, actually, Nicki just loves supporting those kinds of people. Nicki's brother is currently serving many years behind bars for being a 'PDF file.' And it's been said that Nicki paid his lawyer fees to try to get him out of doing time. That tracks."For context, Minaj tied the knot with Kenneth Petty in 2019. According to People magazine, Petty is a "level two registered sex offender" in New York. The outlet reported that Minaj's husband was convicted of attempted r*pe in 1995 and also served a prison sentence.
According to the BBC, Minaj's brother was also convicted of "sexual assault and child endangerment" in 2017. Later in 2020, he was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
In addition to praising Donald Trump and JD Vance, Nicki Minaj made sharp comments against California Governor Gavin Newsom. She referred to the Democrat leader as "Newscum."
