Princess Lilibet Is Heard Praising Mom Meghan Markle’s Cooking in Adorable Video
Meghan Markle wants to make sure her kids know they're loved.
The Duchess of Sussex shed some light into her approach to parenting and the way that she wants Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3—who she shares with husband Prince Harry—to remember her as a mother.
"I know that they'll feel like, 'Oh, my gosh, no one has ever loved someone more than the way our mom loved us,'" Meghan said on the April 28 episode of The Jamie Kern Lima Show. "And I put that in practice, you know, that's part of every day of how I show up for them."
The Suits alum went on to share that she frequently reads parenting books because, even though "a lot of stuff comes naturally," everyone can also "all use tools" to guide them.
Meghan added with a smile, "I really want to be good at it."
As for an example of one of the tools she uses? The 43-year-old revealed that one of her mom friends gave her the idea to create secret email addresses for each of her children to routinely send notes and photos to as a modern way of preserving memories.
"I used to have scrapbooks and photo albums, but we're past that generation now," Meghan explained. "So, I created for the kids these email addresses that I will give to them at some point in their lives when they're older."
"But before I go to bed almost every night, I email them, because it doesn't have to be a heavy lift," she continued. "I email them like, 'Here's your report card from today, or, 'Oh my gosh, you said the funniest thing this morning, or, 'Here's a picture of you two having breakfast, or, 'Here's you playing with the dog.'"

The With Love, Meghan star divulged that she plans on handing over the contents of the email inboxes to her children when they're in their late teens.
"They will end up at one point in their life—maybe when they're 16 or when they're 18—that I say, 'Here's an email that I've been keeping for you for your whole life,'" Meghan said. "'Here's everything, and every moment that I wanted to tell you how much I love you and how proud I am of you.'"
"One of the things with parenting is you watch as you're building their confidence and their self-esteem," Meghan shared. "A word that I use a lot with them is 'yet' and how to reframe things for kids when they're like, 'I can't do it.' 'I can't do it yet.'"
"The more that you put into practice these ideas of putting 'yet' at the end of nearly every sentence and you feel like there's still hope and a promise that you can do it," she went on. "But when I type that to my children before I go to bed, I'm teaching that to them, but I'm also reenforcing it for myself. I don't know yet. I'm not sure yet. I don't know what I'm doing yet."

Meghan called the secret emails "the greatest gift you can give that will cost you nothing and it will mean everything to your children," sharing that she has even sent them voice notes recorded while putting Lilibet and Archie to bed over the years, documenting how their voices have changed.
Another part of her approach to parenting has been to build up their confidence using a simple technique, which has proven to have an added benefit for herself.
