It's early. Very early.
That's important to note when analyzing what Cameron Carr has done in the opening stages of the NBA's summer action for the Los Angeles Lakers.
It's just as important, though, that Carr has looked like a star so far.
On Sunday, he dropped 26 points for the Lakers while snagging eight rebounds and shooting 4-for-9 from 3-point range.

The move was subtle at the time, but it also signaled their desire to land Carr -- the Lakers traded up one spot, from 25th to 24th, to select him in the first round of the recent 2026 NBA Draft.
It felt like a bit of a slide for Carr, who averaged 19 points per game at Baylor while shooting 37% from 3-point range.

Carr's most exciting trait might be his 7-foot wingspan -- and his dad was a dunk contest competitor in the NBA.
Athleticism, length and shooting are clearly big-time skills. Carr has them all.
He's a long way from a surefire NBA success story. But so far, so good.
