How Christian McCaffrey, Olivia Culpo Celebrated Daughter Colette’s First Birthday
Christian McCaffrey and Olivia Culpo don’t want life’s biggest moments to blitz by.
It’s why they made sure to celebrate their daughter Colette’s first birthday with the most important people in their life.
“We had a little mini family get together,” McCaffrey told E! News’ Will Marfuggi at the July 16 premiere of his new documentary series We Are Osos. “First taste of cake. It was great.”
But while her first exposure to birthday cake might feel like a significant moment, the San Francisco 49ers player said Colette wasn’t all that impressed.
“She didn't love it that much,” he admitted. “She loves chicken. So, I was like, let’s keep that as long as we can, loving chicken. But no, it was so much fun. We had just some family friends over. Had a blast.”
He also shares some insight into the 12-month-old’s milestones, including her use of the word “dada.”
“She says ‘dada,’ I get excited, and then she turns to the guy at the grocery store and says, ‘dada,’ too,” he joked. “So, then I was like, ‘Damn, no!’ But she knows.”
And as he and Culpo—with whom he tied the knot in 2024—prepare for the newest team member to join their family, having confirmed Culpo is pregnant in May, they’re just reveling in all the good in their lives.

“She feels good,” he said of his wife. “Feels great, man. We're so excited. We're so blessed. Just pray everybody's healthy at the end of it. But we really can't wait.”
But until then, he’s enjoying finally sharing his docuseries We Are Osos with the world.
The series which chronicles the inaugural season of the Osos de Monterrey, Mexico’s first American football team. McCaffrey partnered with fellow sports stars Ryan Kalil, Blake Griffin, George Kittle, Luke Kuechly, Sam Darnoldand Greg Olsen to create the team.

“The coolest thing for me is just seeing how much the game of football can teach people,” the 30-year-old reflected. “No matter where you are in the world, in a place like Mexico where football is fairly new, to see what the game does to people, and to see that the same game that I started playing when I was a kid gives the same lessons to people who are just starting out—it's a really cool representation that sports don't have a language.”
He continued, “It's a universal language, and it's been really, really fun to work with some great people.”
