‘House Of Villains’ Star Kate Chastain Still Questions If JoJo Siwa Did ‘Special Forces’ Because She Was Broke: “I Hope To Never Reach That Point In My Life”

House of Villains Season 3 is in full swing, and Kate Chastain—famed former Below Deck chief stew and two-time Traitors contestant—is loving every minute of it.

When Chastain first entered the house, she was met with hostility when she went to shake Tiffany “New York” Pollard‘s hand and asked for her name. Silence fell upon the room as Pollard stared at Chastain and bluntly told her, “Don’t hold your hand out.” When Chastain left the room, the former Flavor of Love star—who also appeared on the first two seasons of House of Villains—said, “Obviously, you’ve seen Seasons 1 and 2. Don’t ask me what my name is when I’ve been here three seasons.”

Chastain stopped by DECIDER’s studio this week to discuss her run on House of Villains, and she shared why she asked Pollard, who is non-binary and goes by all pronouns, for their name.

“I didn’t know if she preferred New York or Tiffany, so I thought I was being polite,” Chastain said. “But only in the House of Villains can manners offend people. And that was a really interesting way to enter the house. I was like, ‘Oh man, what have I gotten myself into? Just an introduction is a problem.'”

While they got off on the wrong foot, they were quickly forced to put their negative feelings aside when they became roommates. Fortunately, Pollard started to come around when they took a liking to Chastain’s “big mouth” and “outspoken” personality.

“I love New York,” Chastain told us. “I don’t know how much she loves me, but that’s kind of her vibe. It’s her appeal. You have to earn her attention. I sent her a DM after we left the house, and she took four months to respond, but she did eventually respond. So I think there’s hope.”

Chastain might be slowly earning Pollard’s friendship in House of Villains, but she’s also formed an enemy in Love Island USA star Johnny Middlebrooks. It all started when Chastain casually wondered if JoJo Siwa appeared in competition shows like Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, Dancing with the Stars, and Celebrity Big Brother UK because she was broke. Middlebrooks, who was listening in on the conversation, attempted to defend Siwa by “mansplaining” other reasons why someone would sign up for those shows.

“What is this life?” Chastain said. “I couldn’t believe that he was trying to explain that to me. He had no dog in this race. Why are you being difficult?”

Their tension landed Chastain on the chopping block at the end of Episode 3 when Middlebrooks became the “Supervillain,” and voted to oust her, along with Pollard and Plane Jane, from the house. The self-proclaimed fuck-boy became determined to banish Chastain, especially after she used Love Island USA, his claim to fame, as an insult.

“I actually love Love Island. I love it so much,” Chastain, who was saved from banishment after winning the challenge in Episode 4, clarified. “I was just insulting him because he was coming after me, and that was it. It has nothing to do with Love Island. I mean, we love Rob [Rausch] and Maura [Higgins] on Traitors. I love Olandria [Carthen]. It’s a great show. I was insulting him because I think he’s stupid, not because he’s from Love Island.”

To put a pin in the Siwa saga, Chastain suggested the Dance Moms alum join future seasons of House of Villains. “She seems to love a competition show. She was in a desert with Tom Sandoval [in Special Forces]. Why not go to House of Villains?” she joked. While the ex-yachtie hoped Siwa’s penchant for competition shows wasn’t a result of financial ruin, she did admit, “I can’t imagine any other reason you would go out to the desert, where you don’t have a toilet. I hope to never reach that point in my life. Ever. But she’s in love now [with Chris Hughes], so maybe they’ll both come to House of Villains.”
