Kevin Stefanski is still trying to avoid the issue of Shedeur Sanders starting an official NFL game for the first time, and fans are going restless.
During a video conference on Monday, 92.3 The Fan's Daryl Ruiter asked the Cleveland Browns head coach about his thoughts on when the fifth-round rookie quarterback would start a game. He said:
"I don't think it's fair to speculate."•

And there was much blowback from fans:
@ESPNCleveland His job is 100% tied to Dillon starting. I refuse to believe he is getting this many opportunities while losing as if he was a 1st round pick.
@ESPNCleveland This guy is a straight clown
@ScottPetrak Never…. Kevin needs to be GONE
Bro is willing to die on this hill for trash ass Dillion Gabriel 😂😂😂
In simpler terms. “My team so ass, we even lose to the Justin fields jets, but if I put Sheduer in we gonna lose our #1 overall pick for next season”.
Stick to the subject of quarterbacks, Stefanski also shared some thoughts on Deshaun Watson's potential return to practice after his Achilles tear last season:
“I'm not sure if that's what we're doing.”He also reacted to the New York Giants firing head coach Brian Daboll after three and a half seasons:
"You don’t like to see that. You always feel for anybody out there who’s going through that type of thing."Kevin Stefanski backs ST coordinator after loss at Jets, praises LB Carson Schwesinger
Sunday's 27-20 loss at the New York Jets was particularly embarrassing for Kevin Stefanki and the Browns for two reasons: 1) it came against a supposedly tanking franchise that had just traded away two All-Pro/Pro Bowl defenders, and 2) Justin Fields did not perform well, covering only 54 yards on six completions and towing just one touchdown against an interception.
The Jets instead inflicted most of their damage on special teams, as Kene Nwangwu and Isaiah Williams scored return touchdowns consecutively in the first quarter. Despite those mishaps, however, Stefanski is backing his special teams coordinator Bubba Ventrone. He said:
“Listen, I have a ton of faith in Bubba, I have a ton of faith in our special teams. We have to be better. That’s the case.”He also had praise for linebacker Carson Schwesinger and his "Wolverine blood" after overcoming an ankle sprain to record nine tackles:
"The kid's playing at an extremely high level. For him to come back from that injury and perform like he did, it was incredible to watch."The Browns' next game will be against the Baltimore Ravens this coming Sunday. Kickoff is at 4:25 pm ET on CBS.
