Heroes, zeros from Yankees’ Subway Series win: Cody Bellinger mashes key home run

Cody Bellinger, whose father Clay was a member of the 2001 Yankees, hit a three-run homer in the second inning that gave the Yankees a lead they didn’t give up.

Zero 

After allowing just five runs — four earned — over his previous five starts, Nolan McLean had an uncharacteristic poor start, as the Yankees tagged him for five runs in five innings. McLean also gave up a career-worst 10 hits. 

Unsung hero

Carlos Rodón had his longest outing of the season, tossing 6 ¹/₃ ⅓ innings, despite Aaron Boone saying he’s not fully built up. 

Key Stat

5: With Paul Blackburn and Brent Headrick struggling, David Bednar was called on with one out in the eighth inning and the bases loaded. He got out of that inning and despite giving up a leadoff homer to A.J. Ewing in the ninth, picked up his second five-out save of the year.
