When the New York Knicks take the court for Game 3 against the San Antonio Spurs, it will be the NBA Finals' long-awaited return to Madison Square Garden.

The last time MSG hosted an NBA Finals game, the Spurs won their first title over New York in 1995, securing the championship with a Game 5 victory. Now, the Knicks have turned the tables on San Antonio by taking a 2-0 lead back to New York in hopes of winning the next two games.

As the Knicks look to end a 53-year NBA championship drought, New York fans will undoubtedly be loud inside MSG. However, these tickets are understandably coveted amongst New Yorkers, to the point where the prices have gotten out of hand.

Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the Knicks and Spurs is a hot commodity, as tickets are among the most expensive in NBA Finals history. Knicks tickets are usually among the priciest in the league, and with New York back in the Finals for the first time since 1999, it's no surprise that the cost to get into Madison Square Garden on Monday night is supremely high.

To just get in the door at Madison Square Garden, fans will have to spend almost tens of thousands of dollars. In the end, it will probably be one of the most expensive games in NBA history.

Most expensive Game 3 tickets

According to StubHub, the most expensive ticket for Game 3 cost over $84,000, which is for a courtside seat along the bench area. That seat is around where New York celebrities tend to sit, something that probably comes into play as these prices rise.

StubHub has a fair share of tickets which cost at least $70,000 along the lower bowl area of Madison Square Garden. These prices are subject to change, though, as Game 3 approaches.

On the other end, the cheapest tickets for the first MSG game of the NBA Finals is listed at over $8,600, per StubHub. There are a decent amount of tickets that cost less than $10,000 on the resell site, but most of them are in the upper section of the arena.

As Game 3 approaches, it's possible that these prices go down. However, this is the most anticipated Knicks game in 27 years, so the demand is understandably high.

The average price of an NBA Finals game usually depends on a variety of factors, including which teams are participating. In 2024, when the Boston Celtics played the Dallas Mavericks, the average ticket price was between $1,500-2,000, while the average ticket price in the 2025 NBA Finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers was just over $1,000.

This year, since the Knicks are involved, the average ticket price has a chance to be the most expensive in NBA Finals history.
