Skybound and Image Comics, in partnership with Scott Dunbier’s Act 4 Publishing, today revealed a preview of the art from Mike Mignola’s Hellboy in Hell Book 2 Artist’s Edition. The oversized hardcover book will present Mignola’s haunting work as it was originally drawn, presented in full 11″ x 17″ artboard size, arriving in stores this spring.

Mignola is the acclaimed creator of Hellboy, and remains one of the most celebrated comics creators of the modern era. Prior to his creator-owned work exploding, Mignola’s career was already firmly established from his outstanding work on characters from DC and Marvel, including the acclaimed DC event series Cosmic Odyssey. Upon its debut, Hellboy struck an immediate chord with fans, and has been in more or less continuous publication for more than 30 years since.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to know and occasionally work with Mike Mignola for decades,” said Dunbier in a press release. “His beautiful art, stunning power of contrast, and magnificent story telling abilities continue to mesmerize with everything he does. If there was such a thing as a printed ‘Ted Talk,’ this book would be it.”

Weighing in at over 180 pages, the Artist’s Edition collects the final five issues of Hellboy in Hell, the series which brought a temporary close to the character’s long-running story. It also features the series’ covers and illustrations in their raw state; an introduction by renowned comics artist and designer of the original Hellboy logo, Kevin Nowlan; and an afterword by veteran comics and animation artist Steve Purcell, offering personal insights into the legacy of Hellboy.

An Artist’s Edition is the gold standard in comics-art presentations, effectively serving an art book that tells a story. The books are published in black and white, but the art is scanned in color, enabling the reader to see the work as it appears in real life, with ink gradients, blue pencil, and all the unique nuances that make original art so special. It’s published in the size of the original art boards.

Mike Mignola’s Hellboy in Hell Book 2 Artist’s Edition is the latest chapter of the Act 4 Publishing and Skybound partnership, which also includes releases from late 2025 (Jim Aparo’s DC Classics Artist’s Edition) and throughout 2026 (The Amazing Spider-Man by Steve Ditko Artist’s Edition, Darwyn Cooke’s The Complete Spirit Connoisseur Edition, George Pérez’s The New Teen Titans Artist’s Edition and Wally Wood‘s EC Stories Artist’s Edition–EXPANDED).

Mike Mignola’s Hellboy in Hell Book 2 Artist’s Edition (978-1-5343-3284-3 | SRP $150.00) will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, and at other booksellers on Tuesday, March 25, 2026.
