Safe to say, even after stepping away from active competition, Dustin Poirier's love for the guillotine still prevails.
During the UFC 322 Q&A, when a fan quizzed 'The Diamond' on advice he'd give Jack Della Maddalena against Islam Makhachev, without hesitation, Poirier urged the Australian to jump the gilly, leaving the fandom in stitches.
During his UFC career, Poirier was notorious for jumping the guillotine at the most inopportune moments, thereby conceding compromising positions in the octagon.
For context, at UFC 299 against Benoit Saint-Denis, he attempted the choke multiple times against his corner's advice. Following the fight, the former interim lightweight champion proclaimed that he'd never stop attempting it despite the risks involved.

At the Q&A, Poirier jokingly urged Della Maddalena to attempt the choke against Makahchev, before reverting to more realistic advice:
"Yeah, jump a guillotine. Try to keep the fight in the middle of the octagon. Keep your back off the fence... looking back [when I fought him] I worried so much about his wrestling, I couldn't get off my combination, my footing. I was worried about the shots; I didn't do what I do well. He just has to stay out of his own way and fight his fight."Check out Dustin Poirier's comments below:
While the guillotine comment was almost certainly Poirier joking, it was what caught the fans' attention, prompting many to jump on social media, sharing their thoughts and opinions.

Dustin Poirier feels Islam Makhachev will edge out a decision against Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 322. However, 'The Diamond' maintains that he'll not be surprised if the Australian pulls off the upset.
During an interview with Mike Bohn, the former interim lightweight champion said:
"Man, this is a tough one, dude. I think Islam by decision, but if Jack does win, I'm not going to be totally blown away, if he lands a shot that hurts Islam, or a knee, or something. Obviously, if he beats Islam by decision or submits Islam, then I'm going to be blown away, but I've got to go with Islam by decision."According to the live betting odds, Makhachev is a -285 favorite for the bout with Della Maddalena as a +230 underdog.
