Heated Rivalry breakout star Hudson Williams has found his next project back at Crave.

The newcomer has been cast at the center of Crave’s new mystery series YAGA, based on the play by Kat Sandler.

The press release describes the new original series as a half-hour “contemporary mystery thriller set in a small coastal town.” Williams will star as Henry Park, a young heir to a powerful fishery in town who goes missing. Schitt’s Creek actor Noah Reid will star as Rapp, a private investigator hired to look into Park’s disappearance. But when he arrives in town, he finds himself at odds with a local detective (Letterkenny‘s Clark Backo) and a local university professor (The Matrix‘s Carrie-Anne Moss) who has “a taste for younger men.”

Based on the myth of Baba Yaga, a Slavic figure typically depicted as a witch, the series explores “a labyrinth of enigmatic suspects, secret lives, and ancient magic.”

Sandler will serve as the series writer and showrunner. David Frazee and Rachel Talalay will co-direct the series.

YAGA marks Williams’ newest project since Heated Rivalry became a cultural phenomenon in the fall.

The series, based on the romance novels from author Riley Reid, was adapted for Crave before streaming in the United States on HBO Max. Williams and Connor Storrie became overnight sensations for their depictions as professional hockey players Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov who begin having a secret, years-long affair despite being rivals on the ice.

The spotlight has been on Williams and Storrie since the show aired its Season 1 finale in November.

The stars are also set to return for Season 2, which will also air on HBO Max. The second season will adapt The Long Game, the sixth book of Reid’s series.
